Reproductive autonomy of the trans population: Discourses of Human Rights, cisnormativity and biopolitic

Abstract

This article aims to discuss on the reproductive autonomy of trans popuation according to critical perspectives of human rights, transfeminist epistemologies and biopolitical theories. For this, political effects of discurses are analyzed in the National Plan for the Promotion of Citizenship and Human Rights of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transsexuals 2009 (PNCDH/LGBT) and in legal rules related to the issue. In general, it is argued that, despite the importance of human rights for the realization of full citizenship of LGBT people, meanings of invisibility and silencing persist that collaborate for the physical and symbolic sterilization of the trans population.
