AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS AND TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE INTELLECTUAL FIELD: A REFLECTION

ABSTRACT

Affirmative actions, in the form of racial quotas, have been used in Brazil for nearly two decades, especially in Higher Education. This work analyzes one of the little mentioned potentialities of these measures: the deepening of discussions on racial relations and the formation of a new generation of black intellectuals. From the periodization of 1950 to 1970, from 1980 to 2000, and from 2000 to the present moment , based on bibliographic and documentary research, we analized processes and intergenerational dialogues that led to the formation of new black subjects, considered in their connection with the academic field, specifically with the Brazilian social sciences (whose literature supported this work) , as well as their new “narratives of confrontation”, agenda of demands and forms of organization.
