Efeito do propofol na pressão intra-ocular^*

Propofol effect on intraocular pressure

RESUMO

Os autores estudaram o comportamento da PIO nos olhos contralaterais de 27 pacientes submetidos a cirurgia de facectomia com anestesia peribulbar sob o uso do propofol.

Os resultados mostraram uma diminuição de cerca de 45% da PIO após 2 e 4 minutos da injeção intravenosa deste anestésico.

Foi discutido a possibilidade do efeito protetor do propofol em relação às hipertensões oculares advindas dos bloqueios peri ou retrobulbares.

SUMMARY

The authors studied the intraocular pressure (JOP) behaviour of the fellow eyes in a group of patients submitted to cataract surgery under peribulbar anesthesia and propofol intravenous injection.It was observed a decrease of 45% of the JOP value, 2 and 4 minutes after propofol injection.

The authors discuss a possible effect of propofol preventing the increase of the IOP that can occur a peri ar retrobulbar injection.
