SUMMARY
The authors studied the intraocular pressure (JOP) behaviour of the fellow eyes in a group of patients submitted to cataract surgery under peribulbar anesthesia and propofol intravenous injection. It was observed a decrease of 45% of the JOP value, 2 and 4 minutes after propofol injection.
The authors discuss a possible effect of propofol preventing the increase of the IOP that can occur a peri ar retrobulbar injection.
