TASK-BASED SIGNWRITING TEACHING

ABSTRACT

This paper presents a proposal to adapt Task-Based Teaching to the teaching of the SignWriting for adults that speaks sign language. The methodology of this study is a experimental research, in which the researcher applied theoretical knowledge suitable for the development of a proposal to adapt the Task-Based Teaching for the SignWriting lessons. Based on Willis (1996)WILLIS, J. (1996). A Framework for Task-Based Learning. Harlow: Longman. and Ellis (2006)ELLIS, R. (2006). The methodology of Task-based teaching. Asian EFL Journal,8, 3., didactic units for the teaching of SignWriting were developed, the creation process is described in this work that also analyzes the didactic material produced. It is concluded that it is possible to adapt language teaching approaches to teach SignWriting classes, and it is believed that the work stimulates new investigations around teaching methodologies for this sign language writing system.
