Encarceramento em massa e racismo: a realidade no sistema prisional sergipano

Abstract:

The aim of the text is to present data on the contemporary dynamics of incarceration policy in Sergipe reality, with an emphasis on the racialization that has mostly focused on the black population. Based on historical-dialectical materialism, it articulates bibliographic and documentary data, using data available from the National Survey of Penitentiary Information (INFOPEN), as well as contributions from Marxist social theory and critical criminology. With the results, part of the profile of the prison population in the state in the years 2018 and 2019 is exposed. It was found that there is a racialized profile of the prison population with a predominance of black men, in addition to the tendency of the prison population to increase female, with rates above the national average, as well as the conditions of dehumanization and violation of rights, to which these subjects are subjected, reaffirming a structural articulation between capitalism, racism and sexism, from the expansion of criminalization strategies of these segments by middle of prison.
