CÂMARA CASCUDO AND THE DISSEMINATION OF BRAZILIAN MODERNISM IN ARGENTINA (1922-1925)

Abstract

The exchange of letters between intellectuals during the 20th century became an effective means to circulate unpublished texts among modernist intellectuals. It is essential to highlight that if this was not a habit restricted to that historical moment, it developed considerably. Correspondence between the Brazilian Modernism members and the Argentine avant-garde reveals that the sharing of unpublished text was established between them as a constant practice. Luís da Câmara Cascudo, Monteiro Lobato, Mário de Andrade, Joaquim Inojosa, Braulio Sanchéz-Saes, and Luís E. Sotto were undoubtedly a few of these intellectuals. This article aims to study the action of Luís da Câmara Cascudo disseminating Brazilian modernism through Intellectual Argentina from 1922 to 1925.
