Presenting Brazilian Feminist Judgments

Abstract

This article introduces one of the first feminist judgment projects in Brazil, explaining the methodology used, the expected objectives and presenting the judgments that make up the present dossier. Feminist judgment projects have been developed in the country and around the world and, in common, they all adopt the methodology of rewriting, from one or more feminist perspectives, judicial decisions rendered in real cases, observing all the factual and legal limitations present on the date of the judgment. These projects aim to contribute to the construction of a new critical understanding of law from the perspectives of flesh-and-blood subjects embedded in hierarchical social structures. Thus, we expose the reality of the institutions that make up the current justice systems, still tainted by many stereotypes, including gendered ones.
