‘Practices’ and the body beyond physical education: the educational proposal of CIEPs (1983/1987-1991/1994)

Abstract

The present study aimed to analyze how systematic bodily practices were incorporated into the curricular and architectural programs of Centro Integrado de Educação Pública (CIEPs). To do so, we selected the prescriptive curricular programs developed by the management team during the two administrations of Leonel Brizola, which are available in the physical collection of the Fundação Darcy Ribeiro. We observed that the discourse was centered around the triad of Education, Culture, and Health, and the documents reveal that all competencies should have been addressed for civic education. However, this does not mean that these ideals were materialized as a pedagogical tradition or practice at the time in the implemented curriculum.
