Students and patients evaluate a tool for continuing health education

The Interactive Sessions in Continuing Health Education (SIEPS) have taken place for four years at the Family Health Units of the Petrópolis School of Medicine/ Artur de Sá Earp Neto School (FMP/Fase). The sessions were based on the principles of continuing education proposed by the Ministry of Health and in the problem analysis methodology. They seek a stronger interdisciplinary approach within the health unit, teamwork, and a closer approach between users and the health service and between students and the local reality. This study aimed to understand the reactions by undergraduate students in Medicine, Nutrition, and Nursing and health services users concerning the Interactive Sessions. The study used a questionnaire based on the Likert scale, within the sample of students, and an interview, categorized according to a thematic content analysis, used in the sample of users. The conclusion was that users and students had a positive perception of the Interactive Sessions and that they had achieved the objectives by improving teamwork, emphasizing interdisciplinary work, receiving users properly, and drawing students closer to the communities' reality, with updated team training.
