EDITORIAL NOTE

In the year 2000, a special number of the Brazilian Journal of Biology will be issued in celebration of its 60th anniversary. The continuity of this publication is a landmark in the biology of the neotropics. Several contributions of outstanding biologists are expected, therefore the Journal will maintain its tradition of quality and innovation.
