HONORING PESQUISA OPERACIONAL FOREIGN REVIEWERS

Readers and authors provide the motivation for the editors. However, the reviewers are who enable us to accomplish our purposes. When acknowledging receipt of the reviewer’s report, I always register the journal’s appreciation of that contribution. Nevertheless, I still feel the need of recording this appreciation.

Last year, to honor the reviewers of Pesquisa Operacional I pointed (Sant’Anna, 2023) a set of best reviewers among those who collaborated with my predecessor in the function of Editor. On that occasion, I employed as a preliminary filter the requirement of a minimum of two reviews within the time frame of 2020 and 2021. This year, I decided to select again a set of best reviewers, but since I have to consider now reviewers who accepted my cooperation invitations, I decided to use a filter of proximity, excluding Brazilian reviewers.

Then, to compile the list of best reviews of articles on which I completed decisions in 2022 and 2023, I only examined the evaluations by foreign reviewers, i. e., by non-Brazilian researchers affiliated with institutions outside of Brazil.

The choice was exclusively based on the content of the reviewer’s evaluation reports. In addition to assessing the reviewer’s evaluation of the suitability of the submitted text to the development of a research subject, I also took into account the presence of contributions to enhance the precision of writing and the clarity of presentation, as well as comments that aid to explore potential connections to relevant literature.

I have selected the following best six reviewers as representatives to convey through them the gratitude that is owed to all the other reviewers of Pesquisa Operacional.
