The Diversity of Hate in Christian Weise's Masaniello

This article aims to analyse the diversity of hate in Christian Weise's play Masaniello. With his project of a pedagogical theatre, the author wants to prepare his students for future political activities. This includes the development of the ability to imagine other argumentative horizons in order to anticipate possible reactions. This article concentrates on the aesthetic configuration of hate and its implications for the political discourse, taking into consideration the hate felt by members of the clergy, the nobility and the people.
