For a conceptual and methodological framework for the promotion of infocommunication skills

ABSTRACT

In 2020, an experience was conducted to promote infocommunication skills as an extension course offered at a distance by UFRGS through the Moodle platform, with the participation of professors from Brazil, Portugal and Spain. The content was developed over 13 weeks, with each class being composed of: one hypertext about the topic of the week; one video lesson; one chat between students, teacher and tutor; one activity; and complementary materials, such as articles, documentaries, reports and videos. Each hypertext, video lesson and activity was developed by the specialist teacher on the subject. Learning resources operationalize the concept, approach and method of promoting infocommunication skills. From this concrete experience, it can be concluded: 1) promoting infocommunication skills is a relevant topic for Librarianship and its professionals; 2) an approach must evolve from instrumental to critical awareness of information, from which subjects are encouraged to reflect on their context and practices with regard to information and communication; 3) despite the fact that studies in the scope of “competence in information” in Brazil have achieved a certain conceptual advance, there is a gap to be filled in the gap between theory and practice.
