Heretics: Erection and Ethics

Abstract

What are the ethical possibilities the universality has to offer to a humanity founded and sustained by inequality? This is what the paper want to stress, observing the discourse’s affective trigger in two situations with ethical clash in the linguistic ethnography. It analyzes an interaction between a global north teacher and a South American doctoral student, both negotiating ethical boundaries to argue for a research ethics that is radically particular and contextual. To this end, this study also analyzes the mockery of participants in WhatsApp groups for intimate and spectacular performances regarding their request for consent. Such mockery evidences that, unlike the subjection of our collaborators to the bureaucratic methods of ours, it may be more ethical for the researcher to embrace the ethical model that meets the expectations of the community in which he operates, though. Prior to the analysis, there is a bibliographical review about ethics and colonialism that theoretically supports the discussion undertaken in this proposition.
