COMPUTER-ASSISTED LANGUAGE LEARNING AND TEACHER EDUCATION: DIGITAL RESOURCES IN ONLINE EDUCATION DURING AND BEYOND PANDEMIC TIMES

Abstract

This paper presents the results of an action research conducted with English Language Teaching students at a federal university in 2020, when classes were taught totally online (remote teaching). The aim of the study was to evaluate, from students’ perspective, the language learning experience mediated by digital technologies as well as to identify the contributions of the methodology and digital resources used to English language learning in this context. Based on CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) studies, the paper discusses different possibilities of using digital resources in language learning and proposes initial and continuing teacher education practices in CALL so that these resources can be truly integrated into language teaching and learning practices in face-to-face, online and hybrid contexts.
