EDITORIAL

This edition, number 21, completes a ten-year cycle of the editorial work of producing the journal Interface - Comunicação, Saúde, Educação (Communication, Health, Education).

Every editor of a scientific journal is well aware of what it means to surmount this first decade: how many barriers need to be overcome to ensure the regularity of each edition, its periodicity and, above all, the quality of the editorial project and of what is published.

We were only able to maintain the timely publication of each of our editions with almost no postponements because, at different points in time during this period, the initiative enjoyed the support of several institutions, which we would like to acknowledge here: the Kellog Foundation, the Editora Unesp Foundation, the UNI Foundation, the Office of the President of Unesp, the Office of the Dean of Extended Services and Community Issues of Unesp, the Office of the Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Research of Unesp, the Botucatu-Unesp Medical School, the Botucatu-Unesp Institute of Bio-Sciences, Famesp the Medical and Hospital Development Foundation, the Health Ministry of Brazil, CNPq - the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development and Capes the Coordination Office for Development of Staff with Higher Education.

This support was also essential for improving the quality of our work in each edition, a process that culminated with entering the SciELO Collection and migrating to electronic media.

During this on-going process of constructing our editorial project, we did not fail to take into account the scientific quality criteria proposed by the financing agencies and by the experts in the field of scientific communication, though we avoided rigid forms or concepts. The elements that inspired us to create our publication, as expressed in Italo Calvino's theses, continue to be alive and an to pose a challenge for every edition, given that they are essential values of communication in our times: lightness, speed, exactness, visibility, multiplicity and consistency.

This edition introduces yet another upgrading of our journal: publication every four months. This change aims at reducing the time gap between submission and publication of the work of our collaborators, given the substantial increase in the number of submissions, while still remaining true to our commitment to editorial quality. In this sense, the competent and responsible advice of our associated editors, of the members of the Editorial Council and of the ad hoc consultants has been invaluable.

Finally, we communicate to the scientific community that Interface - Comunicação, Saúde, Educação is now indexed in Elsevier's Scopus base. In a recent Forum of Scientific Editors in the Public Health Field, several negative aspects of the international hegemony of ISI were discussed (as well as its impact factor); the need for alternatives to this dominance was also discussed. Amongst these, the possibilities offered by the Scopus base and Academic Google stood out, although it is essential for our publications to maintain free access, not only as a means of ensuring that what is published has a strong impact but, above all, because knowledge produced with government resources is an asset belonging to all.
