Visions of the New World in Renaissance religious painting

This article describes familiar elements of european explorers, who established the first coordinates with Paradise and Cocanha from analogies, in order to assimilate and to interpret pictorially the New World, -a reality unknown previously-, and to integrate them into Western culture. So, the Christianity is important because it offers the benchmark, to establish the indian´s image into the religious episodes of western European culture. An image, positive sometimes, when it´s linked to paradise, and negative sometimes, when it´s bound for hell.
