MEANS OF ADMISSION SELECTION IN THE LABORATORY SCHOOL OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF SERGIPE. THE SEARCH FOR AN “IDEAL” STUDENT PROFILE (1969-1981)

Abstract

This article presents a historiographical understanding of the processes or means of selection for student admission to the Laboratory School at the Federal University of Sergipe from 1969 to 1981, in addition to their relations with the student profile. This documentary research selected and used documents from the school records as sources, especially the ones in student dossiers. They were all collected in the archive of the Research, Documentation and Memory Center of the Laboratory School. Such an educational establishment, since its foundation in 1959, is considered an elite school. However, the results indicate discussions and modifications in the means of student admission, as well as changes in the student profile of this school, which also began to receive students from public schools and low-income social strata, especially from 1975 onwards, when the school used public draws as a means of admission.
