James Joyce, Hélio Oiticica: labyrinths, networks and plots

Abstract

Labyrinth as image and structure of narrative, thought and network: this article proposes a philosophical based investigation on the presence of this configuration in literary productions, artistic manifestations and digital networks. By relating labyrinth as the constructive matrix of James Joyce's work Ulysses with the labyrinth practiced and described by Hélio Oiticica, this paper intends to trace spatial and temporal paths that emerge from aesthetic productions and that can also be applied to forms of transit in internet networks. Written in an essayistic tone, this work brings together authors such as Umberto Eco, Lucia Santaella, Gaston Bachelard, Paolo Santarcangeli, Josep M. Català, Lucia Leão, Antoinette Rouvroy and Hélio Oiticica himself.
