ABSTRACT
The Sotalia fluviatilis population of Sepetiba Bay prefers some areas to fish. These areas are 10 m deep or more. On summer and fall the areas used are deeper than the ones used on winter and spring. 80.8% of fishing activities occur inside a area 2.8 km wide both sides along the channel dredged by Sepetiba Port. On spring, 73.3% of fishing activities occur outside this area. During the other seasons it happens much less (11.4% - 13.6%). These preferences could be explained by fish distribution patterns and habits, and by climatic factors.
