What do we know about training teachers in the context of educational disputes in Brazil?

ABSTRACT

This article presents reflections about teacher education in Brazil in the context of educational disputes, training policies and the implications in teaching, understanding the multidimensionality and complexity of training processes and teaching in action. In this sense, this essay aims to explain some processes that mark the trajectory of the history of education, aiming at problematizing teacher education in Brazil considering it as a highlight in the scenario of disputes and conflicts in the educational field. Our reflection is based on the possibility of thinking about a training focused on the development of reflective teachers in the search to signify teaching practice, thus reducing the polarities still present in the area under debate. To discuss the concept of teaching knowledge we count on the collaborations of Roldão and Tardif. We consider collaborating for the reflection on a teacher training centered on the conception of the teacher as an adult in training capable of building knowledge through hers/his practices.
