The behavior of six clones of Manihot esculenta cv. Mantiqueira (sweet cassava) X cv. Cafelha (bitter cassava) was analysed. The clones N. 17 and N. 50 were selected on the basis of four years of observations on final stand, productivity and resistance to diseases and pests. The new clones showed to be as productive as 'Mantiqueira' however, their root skin, phelloderm and pulp are white and consequently are of higher industrial value. Concerning disease resistance the results showed that the clones N. 17 and N. 50 were as good as the Mantiqueira cultivars and better than the other four clones.
