Experimentos de cavalos para citros. IV

This paper deals with the results of two rootstock experiments for Eureka lemon planted at the Ribeirão Prêto and Limeira experiment stations. At Ribeirão Prêto the Eureka lemon was budded on the following rootstocks: sour and bitter-sweet orange, shaddock, Rangpur lime, and trifoliate; at Limeira the rootstocks were: sour orange, caipira and lima sweet oranges, Rangpur lime, Brazilian and Florida rough lemon, sweet lime and colomondin. The trees budded on colomondin (Limeira), trifoliate and Florida rough lemon (Ribeirão Prêto) were short lived. They died after a few crops. At Ribeirão Prêto the crops were much lighter than at Limeira. With sour and bitter-sweet orange rootstocks, lemon crops were the best at Ribeirão Prêto. With Rangpur lime and sweet orange rootstocks, lemon crops were better than with the two rough lemons at Limeira. The sweet lime was the worst placed at Ribeirão Prêto and average at Limeira. Fruit quality was the poorest with Florida rough lemon and the best with sour and bitter-sweet rootstocks. Rangpur lime placed between these two groups of rootstocks. Trifoliate orange showed symptoms of incompatibility with Eureka lemon top at the two experiment stations. Symptoms of shell bark showed up in a great number of lemon trees budded on sour and sweet oranges.
