Environmental education at UFMG - 1998-2011: academic research

Abstract

In this article we examine the dissertations and thesis on Environmental Education (EE) finished between 1998 and 2011 at Minas Gerais Federal University, from the perspective of educational and environmental policies. The main objective was to understand the trends, the implications and research interests that deal with the subject, considering that they were developed in different knowledge areas. There are 17 texts that brought in the title the term "environmental education". We understand that interdisciplinarity is common to all of them, and that the legal instruments are still pulsating arguments of the research aimed at the development of new values and educational practices. The results showed different approaches to addressing the theme - educational, participatory, personal development, individual responsibility - a distribution of studies restricted to the scope of certain disciplines, highlighting the strong relationship between the author’s universities program and the theoretical and methodological choices.
