EDITORIAL

Acta Ortopédica Brasileira once proves itself as a publication of excellence in the orthopedic community, due to the high quality of its articles and its presentation methodology. It is the first specialized journal to gain indexing in the Web of Science (ISI) index, and to achieve an impact factor of 0.698 registered by JCR ( Journal Citation Reports).

We are pleased to inform you that we have new reached another new and important and phase in this journey, having achieved the first stage of approval for PubMed Central (PMC). We are awaiting the next phase, in which our articles are being assessed in the version known as XML, which is the most appropriate and effective file format, and the language that will ensure that our texts are deciphered by various generations, irrespective of the available technology. The acceptance of Acta Ortopédica Brasileira by PubMed Central (PMC) demonstrates another step towards our indexing in PubMed/Medline.

PubMed Central (PMC), an important archive of the biomedical journal literature that meets rigorous scientific and technical standards, was developed and is run by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), a division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) of the United States. Offering free access to its content,PMC contains around two million articles, with high national and international visibility, guaranteeing that the content is not forgotten or wiped out, as it has the oldest, most qualified, and most important institutions in the world.

This new achievement is, without doubt, thanks to the work of the editorial body, and the authors who have chosen to send their works to Acta Ortopédica Brasileira for publication. We hope we will continue to have the privilege of receiving these articles, which are increasingly offering more international visibility to the publication, the authors, and their articles. We would also like to thank our partner Laboratório Aché which, throughout this journey, has demonstrated its commitment to the dissemination of Brazilian scientific knowledge.
