É relatado caso de teratoma maligno do IV ventrículo associado à puber-dade precoce e diabete insípido, num menino de 7 anos. A necrópsia revelou crescimento tumoral também nos ventrículos laterais e III ventrículo. Os autores discutem a localização primária do processo e os mecanismos implicados na produção da puberdade precoce.

A case of precocious puberty and diabetes insipidus in a 7 years old boy due to a malignant teratoma in the IVth ventricle is reported. The tumor had grown into the Illrd and lateral ventricles as found on the necropsy. The original site of the tumor and the possible physiopathological mechanisms for the precocious puberty are discussed.

RESUMO

É relatado caso de teratoma maligno do IV ventrículo associado à puber-dade precoce e diabete insípido, num menino de 7 anos. A necrópsia revelou crescimento tumoral também nos ventrículos laterais e III ventrículo. Os autores discutem a localização primária do processo e os mecanismos implicados na produção da puberdade precoce.

SUMMARY

A case of precocious puberty and diabetes insipidus in a 7 years old boy due to a malignant teratoma in the IVth ventricle is reported. The tumor had grown into the Illrd and lateral ventricles as found on the necropsy. The original site of the tumor and the possible physiopathological mechanisms for the precocious puberty are discussed.
