Abstract:
This article discusses issues related to hospitalizations at Sanatório Pinel/SP (1929-1944), the research is based on medical records, prioritizing the cases of female patients. It is intended to recover the speeches that made it possible to determine the diagnosis and hospitalization, the reasons that led these women to be removed from social life and classified as insane. Bringing contributions to discuss issues such as female illnesses, madness, sexuality, marriage, singleness, motherhood, honor, patterns of femininity and its deviations.
