Creative profile and quality of life: implications in adults and elderly with chronic low back pain

INTRODUCTION: The low back pain is considered a public health problem and affects 70% to 80% of the adult population. When chronic, it undertakes the quality of life on many levels. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relations of creative profile in the quality of life of patients with chronic low back pain. METHOD: Sample of 158 participants, 105 women and 53 men, aged 30 to 88 years, with chronic low back pain, diagnosed with lumbar osteoarthritis, registered in five clinics. Instruments: Scale of Creative Profile; WHOQOL-bref; Visual Analogue Scale; Supplementary Questionnaire. RESULTS: The Pearson coefficient found positive correlations between the factor Daring with the psychological and social factors, and Intuition with the physical and environmental ones. Individualism factor showed negative correlations with the psychological, social, environmental and general. CONCLUSIONS: The creative profile has important implications on the quality of life of individuals with chronic low back pain.
