Effects of different water management on the plants settlement of the pre-germinated rice seeds system

This research was carried out for studying the effects of different water managements during the drilling of pre-germinated rice (Oryza sativa L.) seeds system, on the plants settlement. The experiment was settled in the harvest 1995/96, on 500 L capacity amianthus cement boxes, with alluvial soil, at Lageado Experiment Station, Botucatu county, SP, Brazil. Pre-germinated rice seeds from IAC 102 cultivar were drilled and adjusted at seven different water management treatments. Pre-germinated rice seeds drilled in saturated soil or in water clean or dim with water removed out three days after, showed similar results on population and plant settlement. The treatment with water taken out three days after drilling promoted a better plant emergency and settlement than that one with water plate which remained more than seven days. The maintenance of the water plate clean or dirty reduced the establishment and plants population, even though with more estiolation, thinner and longer, also with reduced dry matter production. The dim water plate before drilling reduced the rice plant establishment and population, when the water plate was not evaporated or removed out three days after drilling.
