Abstract
The text proposes to discuss the Machado's writing in the novel Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas in an interlocution between literature and psychoanalysis, with the purpose of presenting a paradigm in which stands out the posthumous writing of the character Brás Cubas stands out as a methodology through which Machado de Assis exposes the malaise inscribed in the articulation between love and death. Therefore, it is evident that the tragic and comic elements presented in the loving partnership cooperate to visualize a perspective in which writing is an attempt to account for the real without covering it up, elaborating a aesthetic procedure and a discursive complexity with which Achaean writing borders on the impossible.
