This paper identifies the major political and organizational trends which reconstituted education workers' organizations between 1978 and 2011 in Brazil. The paper systematizes information related to the processes of creation, unification and division of organizations; the unions constituency expansion; the conversion into legally recognized unions, affiliation growing and the affiliation and disaffiliation with the Unique Workers' Central (CUT).
