The production of X ray contextualized by means of STS approach: a way to insert topics of FMC in high school

In this work we investigate the insertion of topics of Modern Physics for high school students, by dealing with electromagnetic radiations and the production of X rays, its application as medical diagnosis and possible forms of radiological protection. We attempt to update the physics curriculum through an interdisciplinary approach with Mathematics and Biology areas. The methodology is based on both approaches: the Meaningful Learning and Education by Research. We also use the Science, Technology and Society approach (STS) and comprise aspects of the Learning Centered in Events (LCE). Therefore, we consider some essential elements as the survey of pupils' previous knowledge, the researching process and consults to periodicals. In addition, we took into account the reports and seminars and posters exhibition. As result, we promote the learning using a civic conception of Education by contextualizing the physical concepts, contributing to the students' understanding of useful scientific concepts allowing them to understand some natural phenomena which have relevant implications to their lives. Thus permiting them to position themselves towards technological and scientific issues. The students' answers at the end of the research indicate that the conceptual learning was accomplished structuralized in learning to learn, which has broaden their independence concerning their actions and thoughts. The results also indicate that the intervention provided great interaction between the students and the teacher; it also made intense and rich moments of debates and reflections possible, allowing the introduction of important Modern Physics topics.
