This is the summary of a Ph.d dissertation(1996-1999) which deals with Environmental Teaching. It starts with a content analysis (BARDIN, 1977) associated with the Theory of Social Representation (SÁ,1966), taking into account data and results from some Interdisciplinary Research done by a group of students taking their doctorate graduate program about social-economical, cultural and environmental conditions of the municipality of Paranaguá (1996), and so Environmental Education in the first grades was taken into consideration. Environmental Education , from a curricular-methodological approach in the referred grades, is considered as a processual dimension of education itself. From this point-of-view, the data ressearch led to final conclusions with considerations possible at social-institutional and pedagogical-didatic levels. Finally some suggestions such as the research to be continued are offerred.
