The perspectives of the philosopher Hannah Arendt, the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman and the psychoanalyst Jurandir Freire Costa were taken into consideration to carry out the authors' analyses and interpretations. Such analyses, combined with an educational view of contemporary school context, collaborated to the comprehension of the youngsters' lack of interest in classroom activities. In particular, current scenarios on the crisis of Brazilian High Schools were outlined, considering youngsters and adolescents, based on behavioral elements present in a consumers' society. The study concludes that, considering the behavior requirements present in a culture organized around the consumption, the condition of youth presented in schools has been resistant to the constructions of meanings that consider High School learning as inserted in a long-term project. As a result, there are drifted adhesions and the predominance of a culture of amusement in school spaces.
