The development of teacher formation in elementary education between public policy and educational research: an experience in the Valley of Jequitinhonha in Minas Gerais

The study presents an examination on the duty of teaching, and corroborates the value of educational research as a link between the primary formation of future teachers and present-day teachers. The text highlights the importance of postgraduate projects as a result of the dialogue between the teaching courses and the reality on the Brazilian schools of Elementary Education. Moreover, this work emphasizes the impelling role of educational policies with the objective of bringing closer University and Elementary School as the main goal of the government effort on all levels of Brazilian education structure. The project "Prodocência of UFVJM", which aims at strengthening the teacher formation courses resulting from the close relation and dialogue, is presented as a case of such impelling role of educational policies.
