Informational justice in science, technology, and innovation in Brazil: reflections and necessary actions in Information Science

ABSTRACT

Objective:

we seek to reflect on the searchers and referents in science, technology, and innovation in Brazil, to list possible actions in Information Science for the promotion of plurality and diversity of subjects.

Methods:

It is classified as qualitative and exploratory research by means of a document survey and a narrative, non-systematic, and non-exhaustive literature review.

Results:

Critical Information Literacy, Digital Literacy, Statistical Literacy, a diverse collection (in relation to libraries and other information units), Technical Scientific Events, Creation of Collaboration Networks among researchers from lesser-known groups, focusing on the appropriation of information and data, become possible actions to effect the process of informational justice in science, technology, and innovation in Brazil.

Conclusions:

It made possible the understanding of informational justice as a movement of ethical analysis, which requires the development of capacities necessary for the participation of subjects in the most diverse information systems. Evidencing that in relation to the searchers and referents, unfortunately the logic of privilege still perpetuates, since the system of science, technology and innovation in Brazil presents low diversity in relation to the diverse and plural population of the country.
