Cardiopulmonar outline on patients undergone cataract surgery

SUMMARY

A group of 285 patients with cataract was submitted to a preanesthetic evaluating protocol, in order to determine the distribution of their most prevalent systemic diseases according to gender and age. The mean age was 69,9 +/- 11,57 and females predominated, with 172 cases. The distribuition of pathologies according to age occurred in a similar way for both genders. Cardiovascular diseases predominated, with 192 bearers, followed by pulmonary pathologies, with 51 cases. Among cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure (HBP) prevailed, affecting 162 patients. Blood pressures were distributed according to age following the classification of the V JOlNT committee, with the predominancy of HBP class I, with 109 cases. Other detected cardiovascular diseases were angina, with 55 patients, arrhythmias (36) and heart block (29). Among pulmonary diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) predominated, with 39 cases, followed by asthma (7) and tuberculosis (6).
