Intraocular hypertension after Q - Switched Neodymium: YAG laser posterior capsulotomy

SUMMARY

We studied 21 pseudo phakic patients, 07 glaucomatous and 14 non - glaucomatous, that have undergone a Q - Switched Neodymium: YAG Laser posterior capsulotomy. We have compared the intraocular pressure before and after the procedure trying to correlate with the total energy used on the capsulotomy. It was observed that the glaucomatous group has earlier indication for the capsulotomy and a more significant elevalion of the intraocular pressure than the non - glaucomatous group.

It was also noted that the pressure levels obtained after the use of the YAG: Laser were not proportional to the amount of total energy of the lasertherapy.
