Resumo Neste artigo, colocamos a noção de Sarah Ahmed de “estraga-prazeres feminista” em diálogo com estudos feministas de migração e decoloniais. Temos como objetivo analisar como o ativismo digital das mulheres brasileiras em Portugal se torna um “coletivo estraga-prazeres feminista”, desafiando a construção das brasileiras como um “corpo colonial”, bem como a narrativa de ser Portugal um país não racista. Guiado pela abordagem decolonial feminista e fazendo uso da etnografia virtual, junto de uma entrevista em profundidade, este estudo examina a resistência digitalizada de mulheres imigrantes brasileiras em Portugal contra a discriminação e o preconceito. As evidências são extraídas a partir da análise das postagens publicadas entre julho de 2020 e julho de 2021 pela conta de Instagram do projeto “Brasileiras não se calam”.

Abstract In this article, we place Ahmed’s notion of the “feminist killjoy” into dialogues with feminist migration studies and decolonial studies, to explore how Brazilian women in Portugal become “killjoys” by challenging their construction as a “colonial body” and unveiling the fallacious narrative of Portugal as a non-racist country. Guided by a feminist decolonial approach and using virtual ethnography together with an in-depth interview, this study examines the digitized resistance of Brazilian migrant women in Portugal against discrimination and prejudice. Evidence is drawn from an analysis of the 541 posts published between July 2020 and July 2021 by the Instagram account of the “Brasileiras não se calam” project, along with an interview with the project’s coordinating board.

Resumo Nos últimos 15 anos, waxing studios (estúdios de depilação) surgiram no centro de Berlim e cresceram rapidamente em número. Especializados no “método brasileiro”, esses salões de beleza constituem um setor de trabalho cada vez mais ocupado por migrantes brasileiras. Neste artigo, argumento que mais do que um serviço de remoção de pelos, o trabalho realizado nos salões possui dimensão educativa e civilizadora do ponto de vista das depiladoras brasileiras. A intimidade do trabalho possibilita encontros afetivos nos quais as brasileiras não são categorizadas como prestadores de serviço. Antes, passam a personificar a figura de especialista em um padrão de beleza desejado pelas clientes alemãs. Apropriando-se desses momentos de rara intimidade com as “outras”, mulheres da sociedade dominante, as depiladoras atuam como educadoras não só para uma corporalidade considerada mais higiênica e mais feminina, senão também para uma sociabilidade humanizado com o “outro”. Baseado em uma etnografia de longo prazo, discuto tanto os espaços de agência nesses relacionamentos temporários e frágeis dentro do ambiente de um trabalho altamente hierarquizado e estigmatizado quanto seus limites.

Abstract Over the past 15 years, waxing (hair removal) studios have emerged in central Berlin and grown rapidly in number. Specializing in the “Brazilian method,” this beauty salon sector has increasingly been occupied by Brazilian migrants. In addition to being a simple hair removal service, I argue that the intimate work carried out in these salons encompasses an educational and even civilizing effort from the point of view of Brazilian depiladoras: The intimacy of their work allows for affective encounters in which Brazilian women are not seen merely as service providers. They embody the specialist in a form of beauty and femininity that is desired by German clients. Appropriating these rare moments of intimacy, Brazilian depiladoras act as educators not only for a more hygienic and more feminine corporeality but also for a more humanized sociality with the “other.” Based on long-term ethnographic research in Berlin, I discuss both the agency of beauty work and its limits within the coloniality of feminized and ethnicized labor.

Resumo A partir da pesquisa de campo realizada com as imigrantes brasileiras no Japão que aspiram a trabalhar como maquiadoras, descrevo os processos em que “o corpo brasileiro” se apresenta como o “ocidental” em comparação com o “oriental”. Nesse processo, é criada uma nova hierarquia, que coloca as brasileiras em um patamar superior ao das japonesas, contrária à hierarquia econômica existente entre os dois países e a de classe social, na qual as brasileiras são menos favorecidas. Este artigo tenta captar como a produção desse “corpo brasileiro”, que se entrelaça com consumo, classe social, gênero e raça, cria entre essas imigrantes uma tentativa de inversão da posição subordinada ocupada por elas no Japão e compreender quais são os efeitos dessa produção em suas subjetividades.

Abstract Based on interviews with Brazilian female migrants in Japan who are seeking work as makeup artists, I describe how the “Brazilian body” has been represented as an “occidental” body that is distinct from an “oriental” body. This process creates a new hierarchy that places Brazilian women above Japanese women, contrary to the economic hierarchy between the two countries and the hierarchy of social class which allocates Brazilians to the lower classes of Japanese society. This paper examines how the production of the “Brazilian body” – which is linked with consumption, social class, gender, and race – leads these Brazilian female migrants to attempt to invert the subordinate status they occupy in Japan and understand the effects of this production on their subjectivities.

Resumo Por meio de uma pesquisa etnográfica, feita na cidade de Marília-SP, com famílias de nipodescendentes compostas em diferentes momentos históricos, este artigo analisa parentesco, gênero, pertencimentos, corporalidades, beleza e tensões que atravessam as relações nipônicas no Brasil. O olhar se volta, especialmente, para trajetórias femininas, uma vez que os jogos e as tensões no parentesco recaem intensamente sobre os corpos das mulheres, fortemente, os das “mestiças”.

Abstract This paper presents issues related to kinship, gender roles, belonging, embodiments, beauty and tensions in the Japanese universe of Brazil, based on ethnographic research carried out with several multigenerational families, some of which are composed of Japanese descendants and others by Japanese descendants mixed with non-Japanese descendants, all of them living in the city of Marília, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It focuses on the female perspective and trajectories, since the opposition and tension surrounding kinship are more reflected more intensely on female bodies, especially those of “mestizo” women.

Resumen Este artículo explora cómo las intersecciones de género, raza y nacionalidad inciden en la experiencia migratoria y en los procesos identitarios de brasileños/as residentes en Santiago de Chile. Para ello, aplicamos un análisis Biográfico-Interseccional a sus trayectorias migratorias obtenidas a través del método de los relatos de vida, entrevistas en profundidad y fotohistorias (fotografía participativa). Este análisis sugiere que la corporalidad de la mujer brasileña, especialmente representada por la mujer afrodescendiente, se torna, al mismo tiempo, ícono de una brasilidad sexualizada y dispositivo de agencia y de negociaciones identitarias.

Abstract This article explores how intersections of gender, race, and nationality influence both the migration experience and identity processes of Brazilians living in Santiago, Chile. We use a biographical-intersectional analysis of their migratory trajectories collected with the Life Stories Method, in-depth interviews, and Fotohistorias (participatory photography). The analysis suggests that Brazilian female corporality, represented especially by Afro-descendant women, becomes simultaneously an icon of a sexualized Brazilianness and a device of agency and identity negotiations.

Resumo No século XXI, o fluxo emigratório internacional de brasileiros se modificou quanto a sua direção, intensidade e natureza. Nesse cenário, ocorreu um incremento significativo da participação das mulheres. Diferentemente dos movimentos migratórios que desde a segunda metade do século XX se dirigiam majoritariamente para Estados Unidos, Japão e Paraguai, há, mais recentemente, uma intensificação do movimento rumo ao continente europeu. O presente artigo propõe analisar a mobilidade entre o Brasil e a Europa das mulheres brasileiras que estabelecem relações de afeto com homens europeus nos países de imigração e como negociam gênero e raça nas representações sobre a “mulher brasileira”. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza qualitativa que, a partir de dois bancos de dados de pesquisas realizadas com 46 mulheres, selecionou quatro entrevistas semiestruturadas para refletir sobre os processos de transnacionalização e percepção das marcas da racialização e exotização que as mulheres brasileiras vivenciam ao longo de suas experiências migratórias. Essa reflexão permitiu considerar que as mulheres participantes deste estudo, quando estabelecem relações de conjugalidade com portugueses, alemães ou italianos, repensam seus projetos migratórios em função das condições que as relações de afeto estabelecem, negociam posições de gênero, enfrentam os processos de racialização e sexualização e constroem outros significados para imaginários associados à “mulher brasileira”.

Abstract In the 21st century, the international migration flow of Brazilians has changed in terms of its direction, intensity, and nature and there has been a significant increase in the participation of women. Unlike migratory movements that in the second half of the 20th century had mostly been directed to the United States, Japan, and Paraguay, there has been an intensification of the movement towards Europe. This article analyzes the mobility between Brazil and Europe of Brazilian women who establish affectionate relationships with European men, and how they negotiate gender and race in the representations of “Brazilian women.” It is a qualitative study that, based on two databases of research carried out with 46 women, selected 4 semi-structured interviews to reflect on processes of transnationalization and perception of the marks of racialization and exoticization that Brazilian women experience during their migratory experiences. This reflection allowed us to consider that the women participating in this study, when they establish conjugal relationships with Portuguese, Germans, or Italians, rethink their migratory projects according to the conditions that the affective relationships establish, negotiate gender positions, face the processes of racialization and sexualization, and elaborate other meanings for imaginaries associated with “Brazilian women.”

Resumo Ao longo do século XIX, houve mudanças marcantes na produção científica ilustrada, e a participação das mulheres nesse gênero editorial ocorreu de diferentes modos. Muitas mulheres contribuíram ativamente com as pesquisas científicas. Eram coletoras de plantas, artistas viajantes que percorreram lugares distantes, ilustradoras que estudaram os rígidos postulados da produção científica e que, muitas vezes, exploraram novos métodos de produção de imagens para livros de história natural. Aqui trataremos de três artistas britânicas, Maria Graham, Anna Atkins e Matilda Smith, que viveram em períodos distintos do século XIX e que colaboraram com a produção científica ilustrada alcançando postos de trabalho em periódicos renomados e publicando livros para tradicionais casas editoriais do período.

Abstract Significant changes occurred in scientific illustration and women participated in them in a variety of ways. Many women have actively contributed to scientific research. They were plant collectors, artists who traveled through distant lands and illustrators who studied the strict postulates of science and often explored new methods for producing images for natural history books. In this paper we examine three English artists, Maria Graham, Anna Atkins, and Matilda Smith, who lived in different periods of the 19th century and were employed at renowned journals and publishing houses.

Resumo Assumindo uma abordagem multidisciplinar, este artigo consiste em avaliar em que medida a sororidade tornou-se uma parte essencial das demandas dos movimentos feministas contemporâneos e como o livro Novas Cartas Portuguesas (1972) ajuda-nos a compreender a importância dessa questão. O corpus selecionado levanta problemáticas que encaminham a uma leitura convergente entre dois núcleos centrais de interpretação: a solidariedade entre mulheres e as estratégias de busca pela libertação da clausura.

Abstract Taking a multidisciplinary approach, this article intends to evaluate the extent to which sorority has become an essential part of the demands of contemporary feminist movements and how the book New Portuguese Letters (1972) helps us to understand the importance of this issue. The selected corpus raises questions that lead to a convergent reading between two central cores of interpretation: the solidarity among women and the strategies of search for the liberation of the cloister.

Resumen Este artículo surge de un trabajo de campo realizado en poblaciones rurales localizadas en tierras que en un pasado pertenecieron a un latifundio ganadero y algodonero, al sur de la región agreste de Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil. A partir de una investigación sobre un conflicto laboral ocurrido en dicho latifundio en la década de sesenta, durante la sindicalización de los/as trabajadores/as rurales del lugar, en este texto atiendo los momentos del trabajo de campo compartidos con las mujeres de esa región. Me interesa enfocar el universo social que nuestras interacciones y lo que me contaban permiten vislumbrar. Frecuentemente, los varones fueron los recomendados para interactuar con quien no era de allí y contar sobre las cuestiones que me interesaban y que eran de conocimiento público; no competía a las mujeres esa interacción, ni ese poder de acceso a la palabra de interés general. Sin embargo, en un ámbito de mayor intimidad, sí accedían a esa palabra. Con ellas descubrí una dinámica social diferente a la que observaba con los varones, la cual no hubiera podido apreciar por fuera de sus redes cotidianas de sociabilidad. Con este artículo procuro mostrar ese mundo público que se construye en el ámbito doméstico o en aquel para cuyo acceso se requiere algún grado de familiaridad. Pretendo, con una perspectiva de género, aportar a una mirada crítica de la dicotomía público-privado.

Abstract This article stems from fieldwork with rural populations living on what was once an enormous livestock and cotton plantation in the Agreste region of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Drawing on a study of a labor conflict surrounding the unionization of rural workers there in the 1960s, the article examines moments of fieldwork involving the region’s women. I am interested in focusing on the social universe I could see through these women’s statements and my interactions with them. During my fieldwork, men were usually the ones to talk to outsiders and discuss issues that interested me and of public knowledge. Women would not engage in such interactions and did not have the power to speak about issues of general interest. In more intimate settings, however, their voices emerged. With these women, I discovered a social dynamic different from that observed with the men, a dynamic I would not have been able to comprehend outside their daily sociability networks. In this article, I intend to show the public world that is constructed within the domestic realm, or in other spaces where familiarity is a condition for access. The goal is to contribute to a critical perspective on the public-private dichotomy from a gender perspective.

Resumo O artigo analisa sentidos e práticas afetivas e conjugais vivenciadas por travestis encarceradas em uma penitenciária masculina. São observados os discursos da administração prisional sobre os relacionamentos sexuais e amorosos na Alas LGBT, assim como as narrativas das próprias travestis sobre seus casos e casamentos. Articulando essas duas perspectivas, identifica-se como as conjugalidades são reinventadas e mediadas através do sistema penitenciário. Pensando a prisão como um espaço produtivo de relações, proponho analisar como esses casamentos redimensionam tanto a gramática das relações no contexto da rua como as normas de gênero e sexualidade.

Abstract This article analyzes meanings and practices of conjugality and affection experienced by trans women imprisoned in a male penitentiary. The discourses of the prison administration on the sexual and loving relationships in the LGBT wings are observed, as well as the trans women’s own narratives about their affairs and marriages. Articulating these two perspectives, the paper identifies how conjugalities are reinvented and mediated by the penitentiary system. Thinking of prison as a space that produces relationships, I propose to analyze how these marriages reshape the grammar of relationships in the context of the street, as well as the norms of gender and sexuality.

Resumen A través de la tradición antropológica de la reflexividad, la presente comunicación versa sobre la circularidad de las emociones en una investigación etnográfica. Desarrollada entre los años 2012 y 2015, el referente empírico refiere a las propuestas de agrupaciones difusoras del “parto respetado” en Buenos Aires. La incorporación de las emociones “negativas” como material legible, aproxima sugerencias sobre ciertos mandatos de género basados en el lenguaje de los instintos y el destino maternal. Sin embargo, una nueva implicación con el campo permite identificar el lenguaje de los derechos y también el de los deseos, en términos subjetivos, que proponen las integrantes, habilitando configuraciones peculiares en la arena de politización del parto.

Abstract Through the anthropological tradition of reflexivity, this communication addresses the circularity of emotions in an ethnographic investigation. Undertaken between 2012 and 2015, the empirical reference involves the proposals of groups that promote “respected childbirth” in Buenos Aires. The incorporation of “negative” emotions as legible material approximates suggestions about certain gender mandates based on the language of instincts and maternal destiny. However, a new involvement with the field allowed us to identify the language of rights and that of desires, in subjective terms, proposed by the members, enabling peculiar configurations in the arena of politicization of childbirth.

Resumo A expressão cansaço tem circulado contemporaneamente em distintas esferas da vida social para significar experiências de maternagem de mulheres de camadas médias brasileiras. “Mães cansadas” figuram, verbalizam ou escrevem sobre o que vivem nos grupos virtuais e presenciais de mães no pós-parto, nos discursos psi e nas telas do cinema e da televisão. Neste artigo, a ideia é refletir justamente sobre “o cansaço” como categoria nativa nesses universos e ponderar sobre os seus sentidos no que tange à vida social mais amplamente pensada, qual seja econômica e politicamente. Afinal, o que pode nos contar o “cansaço materno” sobre a política e a economia, sobre a casa e a rua, sobre o ideário de uma maternidade “mais naturalista” e sobre os papéis de gênero operantes?

Abstract The expression tiredness has been circulating at the same time in different spheres of social life to mean experiences of motherhood of Brazilian middle-class women. “Tired mothers” figure, verbalize or write about what they live in the virtual and face-to-face groups of mothers in the postpartum period, in psi speeches and on cinema and television screens. In this article, the idea is to reflect precisely on “fatigue” as a native category in these universes and to ponder on their senses in terms of the most widely thought-out social life, which is economically and politically. After all, what can “maternal fatigue” tell us about politics and economics, about the home and the street, about the idea of a “more naturalist” motherhood and about the gender roles that operate?

Resumen Las acciones colectivas por el derecho al aborto fueron acompañadas por la elaboración de argumentos sólidos desde una multiplicidad de campos de conocimiento. El objetivo de este artículo es realizar un mapeo de las investigaciones sobre aborto en la Argentina. A partir de la revisión de la literatura especializada y su sistematización se advierte la existencia de una extensa tradición de estudios sobre aborto en Argentina, la multiplicidad de perspectivas desde las cuales se ha abordado el tema y algunas de las áreas de vacancia en este campo de saberes.

Abstract Collective actions for abortion rights were accompanied by examining the development of robust arguments from a multiplicity of fields of knowledge. The objective of this article is to map abortion research in Argentina. A review of the specialized literature and its systematization reveals an extensive tradition of abortion studies in Argentina, a multiplicity of perspectives from which this issue has been approached and some gaps in this field of knowledge.

Resumo Este artigo tem por objetivo refletir sobre as compreensões de gênero/sexualidade de professores (as) de uma escola pública estadual do município de Pio XII, no estado do Maranhão, em especial, o material construído em 2015 a partir do caderno de campo e rodas de conversa, referente à formação pedagógica ocorrida no mês de abril do mesmo ano. A partir das contribuições de Judith Butler (2015), Michel Foucault (2004; 2005) e Jacques Derrida (2004; 2015), problematiza-se o entendimento sobre a categoria gênero/sexualidade apresentada durante a formação pedagógica, em uma perspectiva pós-estruturalista.

Abstract This article reflects on understandings about gender / sexuality expressed by teachers at a public school in the municipality of Pio XII, Maranhão. It analyses material constructed in 2015 in a field notebook and through conversational circles, which considered pedagogical training on the subject . Theoretical contributions from Judith Butler (2015), Michel Foucault (2004; 2005) and Jacques Derrida (2004; 2015) are used to discuss and problematize understandings about the category gender/sexuality presented during the pedagogical training, in a post- structuralist perspective.

Resumo Durante duas décadas, o eixo “orientação sexual” fez parte do currículo escolar brasileiro como tema transversal. Não obstante, apesar da proliferação de pesquisas sobre esse tema, poucos são os estudos que mapeiem o atual papel dos contextos sociais (família, escola, mídia, etc) na perspectiva da psicogênese do conhecimento sexual. Nessa ótica, o presente artigo discorre acerca das condições de produção dos preconceitos sexistas na interface entre aspectos socioculturais e operadores conceituais da psicologia do desenvolvimento infantil. Tendo-se constatado que na literatura prevalecem as análises das representações de pais e professores, escolheu-se escutar as próprias crianças. O estudo visa mapear se as representações sobre identidade de gênero que foram detectadas em estudos empíricos realizados nas décadas de 1960 e 1980, nos Estados Unidos e na França, são também observadas no contexto atual brasileiro. Para isso, foram entrevistadas 80 crianças de 4 a 9 anos, indagando suas ideias acerca da diferença sexual e de gênero. Os resultados permitiram observar parcialmente alguns traços das pesquisas referenciadas, podendo-se inferir o movimento representativo de uma progressão que vai dos estereótipos de gênero à consideração da anatomia sexual. Em comparação ao protagonismo da família como educadora sexual, a escola foi pouco mencionada como transmissora do conhecimento, o que demonstra a necessidade de indagar os impactos da circulação do dito e não-dito sobre sexualidade nessa instituição. Concluiu-se salientando a fecundidade da análise dialética dos aspectos sociais e cognitivos do desenvolvimento no estudo dos preconceitos sexuais na infância.

Abstract For two decades, “sexual orientation” was a transversal theme in the Brazilian school curriculum. Nevertheless, despite the proliferation of research on this topic, there are few studies that map the current role of social contexts (family, school, media, etc.) to consider the psychogenesis of sexual knowledge. In this light, this article discusses the conditions of the production of sexist prejudices at the interface between socio-cultural aspects and conceptual operators of the psychology of child development. Having found that the analysis of parents and teachers’ representations is predominant in the literature, we chose to listen to the children themselves. The study sought to determine whether representations about gender identity that were detected in empirical studies from the 1960s and 1980s in the United States and France are also observed in the current Brazilian context. To do so, 80 children, from 4 to 9 years old were interviewed apropos their ideas concerning sexual and gender difference. The results allowed partially observing some traits identified in the studies examined, and a movement can be inferred that represents a progression from gender stereotypes to the consideration of sexual anatomy. In comparison to the role of the family as a sex educator, the school was little mentioned as a transmitter of knowledge, which demonstrates the need to investigate the impacts of the circulation of the said and unsaid about sexuality in this institution. The conclusion emphasizes the fruitfulness of the dialectical analysis of social and cognitive aspects of development in the study of sexual prejudices in childhood.

Resumo Este artigo apresenta um breve panorama das desigualdades de gênero na educação e nas ciências no Brasil, com base em pesquisas, dados estatísticos e relatórios de agências nacionais e internacionais, incluindo informações sobre políticas públicas e projetos criados nas últimas décadas para enfrentar a questão. O trabalho visa a expressar a atualidade do tema, problematizar a persistente dificuldade em superar a desigual participação de mulheres em áreas de conhecimento, formação e atuação identificadas como masculinas, como também analisar os novos horizontes e desafios atuais à equidade de gênero no contexto nacional de crise pós-2016.

Abstract This article presents a brief overview of gender inequalities in education and science in Brazil, based on research, statistical data and reports from national and international agencies, including information about public policies and projects created in recent decades to address the issue. The paper aims to express the relevance of the subject at present time and problematize the persistent difficulty in overcome women unequal participation in areas of knowledge, education and professional performance identified as masculine’s, as well it analyses the new horizons and current challenges for gender equity in the national context of crisis post-2016.

Resumen Este artículo explora las lecturas y valoraciones que realizan mujeres víctimas/supervivientes de violencias sobre los contenidos mediáticos que abordan la violencia de género. A partir de la técnica del grupo de discusión, un grupo de mujeres con experiencias de violencias reflexionan sobre la calidad de la información, la importancia de los profesionales o las respuestas que en ellas producen los tratamientos mediáticos actuales de este problema social. Entre los resultados cabe destacar las críticas a la superficialidad y el sensacionalismo que aún hoy está presente en los medios de comunicación social.

Abstract This article explores the readings and assessments of media content about gender violence made by women who are victims / survivors of violence. Using a discussion group technique, a group of women with experiences of violence reflected on the quality of information, the importance of professionals and their own responses to current media treatments of this social problem. Among the results, it is worth highlighting criticisms of the superficiality and sensationalism still present in the social communication media.
