EDITORIAL NOTE

Green cities, urban reforestation and urban biodiversity.

Today at least 50% of the human population is living in cities (metropolitan regions or midsize towns of 1000.000 to 200.000 in habitants).

In order to improve the biogeophysical structure and functions of their urban regions, it is necessary to protect and implement municipal parks and ecological stations, promote reforestation of riparian areas and improve the perception of the citizens related to green areas in the towns.

Restoration of urban biodiversity with implementation of urban parks and green areas, is fundamental for education of people, and mobilizing the society. Also restore the relationships of citizens with biodiversity.
