EDITORIAL NOTE
This number completes the volume of 2012 of the BJB (volume 72). Besides the regular four numbers, BJB published a special number (Suppl. to Vol. 3) dedicated to "Climate change and Biogeochemistry: Brazilian biomes".
The BJB maintains thus the original policy of publishing high quality papers, reviews and special numbers on neotropical biology, ecology, botany, zoology, aquatic sciences.
Our impact factor improved in 2012: from 0,612 to 0,688 in November.
This is a evidence that the rigorous selection of papers, based on peer review analysis is adequate. The number of papers submitted to BJB this year was also increased: up to now, 270 papers were submited. This is also evidence that the BJB publishing policy is accepted and supported by the scientific community. By incorporating in the Editorial Board highly qualified scientists from different fields, and with a wide geographic distribution BJB has, at present a world wide distribution.
