Editorial note

The 21 papers published in this number deal with a wide range of subjects in basic biology, zoology, ecology, and animal behavior. Specifically, the contents examine aspects such as physiological responses of organisms, foraging activities in fishes, biodiversity assessment of benthic macroinvertebrates, priority areas for anuran conservation, foraging in stingless bees, metabolic adjustments in eels, and responses of freshwater zooplankton to eutrophication.

Two of the papers presented relate to Biomphalaria glabrata. One of them focuses on hemolymph characterization; the other concentrates on natural infestation.

Pollution problems and survival in impacted ecosystems are addressed in two studies, one treating the condition index in Crassostrea rhizophorae, while the second examines the growth and mortality of black bass (Micropterus salmoides).

Cytogenetic analysis of neotropical species of spiders, immune response in rats, and morphological changes in cells during the male reproductive cycle of a teleost are the subjects of other contributions.

Finally, in the area of animal behavior and ecology, a study on reintroduction of marsh deer (Blastocerus dichotomus) and another on consumption of Tabebuia aurea by parrots are also found in this month's issue.
