SUMMARY
A method for automated determination of sulphur in plant material by the Technicon Autoanalyzer II system is presented.
The plant extract was obtained by digestion of 0.200 g of dry plant tissue with HN03 and HC104 in a calibrated 50 ml Kjeldahl flask. The method described is based on the paper of Basson and Böhmer with some modifications related to the extract preparation and to the alternated, system for barium chloride and the wash buffer solution intake.
The results for several plant materials obtained by this method showed good precision and were comparable with those obtained by the gravimetric method and by the indirect atomic absorption spectrophotometric method.
