SUMMARY

Total nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium were determined in leaves of grape of the variety Seibel 2, grafted on ten different rootstocks. Significant differences were observed in the leaves content according to rootstock utilized. The highest nitrogen contents were found in plants grafted on Rupestris du Lot, IAC 313 (Tropical) and Golia; phosphorus content was the highest in plants with Golia and Rupestris du Lot stocks; as well as for the potassium, content. Significant difference was obtained only between plants grafted on Berlandieri x x Riparia (420 A) and Seibel 2. More calcium was found in grape with IAC 313 (Tropical) and Bourrisquou x Rupestris (93-5C) stocks and the magnesium content only separated Golia and IAC 313 (Tropical) from Seibel 2.

The results confirm the need for different "optimum" values for each element according to the rootstocks used for a given scion variety.
