SUMMARY

Leaf-dip preparations from plants infected with celery yellow mosaic (CYMV), examined in the electron microscope, contained elongated flexible particles measuring 760 mμ in normal length and 15 mμ in diameter, which are considered as CYMV particles.

CYMV has morphological similarity with a celery mosaic virus described in Germany and the western celery mosaic, found in the United States. It is likely that if they are not identical, they are members of the same complex, belonging to the morphological group of potato virus Y in Brandes' classification of elongated plant viruses.
