SUMMARY

Groups of 20 terminal cuttings from the same season growth of Camellia japonica var. alba plena were treated with 4 different plant hormones. The treatment consisted in the immersion of the lower end of the cutting in a solution of liquid hormone for 24 hours or by dipping it in the powdery hormone. Rooting was carried out in a cold frame with sand, shielded into a lath-house. High percentage of rooted cuttings was obtained with the hormones. The beta-indolbutiric acid and vigortone gave the best results, the cuttings showing larger and more vigorous roots as well as earlier and better foliage than the controls.
