Cotton malformation due to 2,4-D

SUMMARY
Malformation of cotton plants in the field resulted from spraying insecticides with a sprayer that had been used previously with 2,4-D without subsequent washing. Potted cotton plants in the greenhouse that were sprayed once with a solution of the sodium salt of 2,4-D (60%) at concentrations of 10-4, 10-5, and 10-6 developed the same type of malformation that had been noted in the field. Even a solution at 10~7 induced some malformation of the plants.
