RESUMO

A uItrassonografia Doppler é um método não invasivo e confiável que pode ser empregado na análise da velocidade do fluxo sanguíneo. A introdução do Color Doppler permitiu, pela primeira vez, a observação simultânea de imagens de estruturas anatômicas em tempo real e do fluxo vascular codificado por cores de vasos normalmente além do poder de resolução de outros métodos. Este trabalho visa introduzir o uso deste método propedêutico em nosso meio, detalhando os princípios físicos envolvidos, assim como técnica e principais indicações oftalmológicas.

SUMMARY

Doppler ultrasonography is a noninvasive. reliable method that can be used to analyze blood flow velocity. The introduction of Color Doppler allowed us, for the first time, to obtain simultaneous real-time bidimensional image and color-coded blood flow measurements of vessels beyond the resolution of other methods. This study introduces the use of Color Doppler in Brazil. describes the physical principles involved. the technique and main ophthalmic indications.
