Pilocarpina a 2% na prevenção da elevação da pressão intra-ocular pela aplicação de Neodymium Yag Laser em capsulotomia posterior

2% Pilocarpine in the prophylaxis of intraocular pressure rise after Neodymium Yag Laser posterior capsulotomy

RESUMO

Realizou-se estudo prospectivo para avaliar o efeito do colírio de pilocarpina 2% na prevenção do aumento agudo da PIO após aplicação do Neodymium (Nd): Yag Laser para capsulotomia posterior.

Foram estudados 84 pacientes divididos em um grupo que utilizou o colírio após a aplicação do laser e um grupo controle.

No grupo controle houve aumento médio da pressão intra-ocular de 5,62 mmHg e verificou-se aumento pressórico maior ou igual a 10 mmHg em 11 pacientes. No grupo que utilizou colírio de pilocarpina a 2%, o aumento médio da pressão intra-ocular foi de 2,38 mmHg e verificou-se aumento de pressão maior que 10 mmHg em apenas um paciente. Sugere-se a utilização sistemática de pilocarpina colírio 2% por 3 vezes de uma em uma hora após a aplicação do Nd: Yag Laser, para prevenir danos oculares por aumento da PIO além de controle de PIO pelo menos após 3 e 24 horas.

SUMMARY

A prospective study was conducted to evaluate the effect of pilocarpine in the prevention of intraocular pressure spike after Neodymiun: Yag Laser posterior capsuIotomy.

The mean intraocular pressure rise in the group receiving pilocarpine (34 patients) was 2,38 mmHg, and 5,62 mmHg in the control group (50 patients).

In the group receiving pilocarpine there was only one case of increase of 10 mmHg or more against the 11 patients in the control group. We suggest the prophylatic use of pilocarpine 2% after Nd: Yag Laser posterior capsulotomy.
